Bold of you to kick off your track with a nasty alien fart xD

The vocal chop groove was interesting, but got old FAST. The weird wompy pluck thing that replaced it wasn't doing anything for me either. The house drum pattern felt sloppy, especially in the hi hats. They were sporadic, as if they'd been placed at random and quantized. Another thing that kills the energy is the lack of sidechaining. It seems the kick is sidechained to the bass, but I can't hear it affect anything else.

The lack of a proper transition from the first section to the bit at 1:14 bothered me. The vocal chop groove got a little more interesting, and the switch from that house drum pattern was a welcome one, but was short lived as you then duplicate the first bit to use as your conclusion, with little or no modification.

Looking at your other tracks, I'm confused as to why you chose this track to be your audition for the NGUAC. "Her Righteous Introspection" bumps so hard!

This is an interesting track, but the stagnant energy, grating sound choices and general lack of color or character is making it hard to enjoy. I know you're capable of far more, so I wish you luck in this year's NGUAC! :)

I agree i have stronger tracks on my album. Honestly, I just wanted to get some more listens. I'm not concerned with winning. Thanks for taking some time with my work.

I hadn't seen the genre tag when I started, so the jump from chiptune to metal was very unexpected but a pleasant surprise for sure!

The guitar riffs and drum patterns are so awesome! The noisy ambient lead at around 1:17 needed to be placed a little better in the stereo field, it's taking up the same space as the guitars and gets kinda smothered as a result.

I think the drums could use a little boost in the mix too, although I understand how tricky it is to get the right balance, especially with rock/metal where you're usually mixing the drums as a single layer instead of being able to tweak the response of each part of the drums.

I really enjoyed the calmer break near the end, although I wish it was closer to the middle to help break up that huge first half and give the ending a little more time to shine.

Awesome track! I feel like I don't dive into the rock/metal side of Newgrounds as much as I should :)

Thank you very much! All of those things are what I always really struggle with, just generally. I’ve only just made a drum sound I’m happy with, and I’m still refining everything. I’ve always felt my strength is songwriting, so for years I slacked on the mixing side, meaning it has a lot of catching up to do.

Again, thank you very much!

Reading the lyrics had me a little scared at first, but this track ROCKS! I love the blend of rock and those odd glitchy electronic interludes (and that little dnb bit was dope, although I wish there was more than that guitar riff with it, or at least wish the guitar had some heavier processing to give it some color)

The muddy vocal EQ kinda upset me, some parts were so muffled I had to follow along with the lyrics in the description (which I usually do anyways but still). It's less of an issue in the choruses when they're doubled up and processed. I don't have any tips on that cause I'm probably worse at mastering vocals myself, but I had to mention it.

This track is metal as heck! Definitely brings me back to the days when I exclusively listened to rock. Just a few hairs away from greatness!

Best of luck to you!

Thank you, this is wonderful feedback. I really appreciate the time you've taken and detail you've gone into.

I really enjoy the groove this track has! I don't know how much control you have over velocities in famitracker, but I definitely think the hi hat pattern could have used some humanization to help compliment it's relationship with the pluck lead and bass.

I have to applaud your utilization of the stereo field! Some chiptune tracks sound flat and mono, but you've spaced out your elements so they have the breathing room they need! The arps and harmonies sounded nice! Listening to the old version, this is quite a step up!

Finally, while I enjoyed the energy this track has, I feel like it needed some variation. The key change about 1:30 in was done really well, but I wish there was something to break up the two halves.

A cute little ditty with great energy!

I'm really digging this vibe! The guitar is bringing me back to that one song from Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 haha. I also kinda love how it never stops, the whole track is like a sick guitar solo. The guitar was perfectly accompanied by those gorgeous pads!

I guess my one gripe would be that the track's "space" never seems to change. There is a brief moment of calm around 2 minutes in, but for the most part the track is on one setting, one energy. I feel like no new instruments were introduced throughout the track either, which might be part of why I feel that way. I might also be a little biased because recently I've been listening to songs with larger contrasts within themselves, constantly throwing me from emotion to emotion, etc.

But overall this is a terrific track! Something I'd love to have playing in the background while I'm working :)

AudioLion responds:

Thanks larrynachos! Honestly, I wrote this in 2016 and just never did anything with it. I'm going into the old archive and just putting up whatever I find.

This smacks! Feel like I've been neglecting NG music recently but I've been busy ;-; copped a code though! Nice work :D

eeeheeee I love this, you did a great job <3

Gorgeous work! Sounds so professionally done <3 The guitar bit reminds me of the background music to rollercoaster tycoon 3 haha, triggered some nostalgia.

Great track! Shame it didn't succeed as a pitch but glad we get to hear it!~

Troisnyx responds:
